Los altos costos de infraestructura y la desafiante geograf\u00eda han hecho inviable, para muchas comunidades, contar con servicios tradicionales de Internet, especialmente en zonas ind\u00edgenas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La Internet Society, organizaci\u00f3n sin fines de lucro que trabaja por una Internet abierta y para todas las personas, reconoce que cerrar esta brecha requiere atender m\u00faltiples factores: asequibilidad, infraestructura insuficiente y carencias en habilidades digitales. En colaboraci\u00f3n con CITEL, est\u00e1 desplegando programas regionales de capacitaci\u00f3n que empoderan a l\u00edderes comunitarios para implementar redes accesibles, seguras y sostenibles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La alianza tambi\u00e9n busca remover barreras regulatorias y fomentar pol\u00edticas que habiliten la infraestructura comunitaria. De esta manera, se combina formaci\u00f3n t\u00e9cnica de base con incidencia de alto nivel, creando rutas viables para una conectividad liderada por las propias comunidades.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cLas comunidades conocen mejor que nadie sus necesidades de conectividad\u201d, afirm\u00f3 Sally Wentworth, presidenta y directora ejecutiva de la Internet Society, quien particip\u00f3 en la reuni\u00f3n de CITEL. \u201cNuestro rol es entregar la capacitaci\u00f3n t\u00e9cnica, el respaldo en pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas y los marcos comprobados que permiten a los l\u00edderes locales construir y mantener sus propias redes\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El enfoque ya muestra resultados en la regi\u00f3n del Chaco, en Paraguay, donde la Internet Society, junto a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.internetsociety.org\/issues\/community-networks\/success-stories\/paraguayan-chaco\/\">Grupo Sunu y comunidades ind\u00edgenas<\/a>, despleg\u00f3 redes inal\u00e1mbricas adaptadas a condiciones clim\u00e1ticas extremas. Hoy conectan escuelas, centros de salud y espacios comunitarios, mientras capacitan a residentes locales para gestionar la infraestructura, reduciendo costos y asegurando sostenibilidad.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La Internet Society trabaja con aliados como <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rhizomatica.org\/\">Rhizomatica<\/a>, que apoya a comunidades en la construcci\u00f3n y mantenimiento de infraestructuras de telecomunicaciones y energ\u00eda autogestionadas. En conjunto, desarrollan proyectos de despliegue, capacitaci\u00f3n y entrenamiento para responsables de pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En Santiago, Internet Society cap\u00edtulo Chile fue anfitri\u00f3n de los talleres, que formaron a los participantes en dise\u00f1o de redes, despliegue de equipos y navegaci\u00f3n regulatoria. Adem\u00e1s, 21 becarios de distintos pa\u00edses (dos de ellos chilenos) recibieron formaci\u00f3n en gobernanza y defensa del Internet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cSer anfitriones de estas actividades en Santiago ha fortalecido la presencia del cap\u00edtulo chileno y de la Internet Society en el pa\u00eds. Vemos una gran oportunidad para impulsar proyectos de conectividad comunitaria enfocados en los territorios y en las necesidades locales. El desaf\u00edo es formar especialistas que permitan llevar adelante estas estrategias, pero tambi\u00e9n desarrollar iniciativas que complementen el trabajo que ya realizan el Estado y los privados. Queremos que el cap\u00edtulo chileno sea visto como un socio y aliado en este esfuerzo\u201d, destac\u00f3 Patricia Pe\u00f1a, directora de ISOC Chile.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Durante 2025, la Internet Society y CITEL entregar\u00e1n 400 becas para cursos en l\u00ednea especializados, reforzando capacidades regionales para el despliegue de redes comunitarias.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cLa inclusi\u00f3n digital no se trata solo de acceso, sino de empoderamiento\u201d, agreg\u00f3 Wentworth. \u201cCuando las comunidades son due\u00f1as y operadoras de sus redes, controlan su futuro digital y generan oportunidades econ\u00f3micas sostenibles\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cTambi\u00e9n es crucial acompa\u00f1ar otras estrategias, como programas de alfabetizaci\u00f3n digital. Hoy d\u00eda no se trata solo de ense\u00f1ar a usar Internet de manera b\u00e1sica, existen servicios para los que muchas personas a\u00fan no cuentan con las competencias digitales necesarias para aprovecharlos con fines productivos y educativos, con impacto en su vida diaria. A esto se suma el reto de la llegada de la Inteligencia Artificial, disponible a trav\u00e9s de la conectividad que facilita el Internet.
